    Replaced my oilpan today

Not nearly as hard of a job as I thought it would be. It took us about 5 hours, which is not too bad.

For those who don't know why I did it, the day I checked out the car to be sure I wanted to buy it, the guy left my house to go pick up his girlfriend. On the way there, he hit a large rock in the road. The rock hit and dented the front of the pan, then rolled under and tore the 2" x 3" long hole you see here. He knocked $400 off the price of the car for parts and labor to get it fixed, but it would have come to about $580 to get it fixed by my mechanic friend, so I decided to get NitroRustlerDriver and another friend to help, and we did it ourselves.

I did a write-up on the whole procedure, it will be found in the Tech Section of R3V in a day or so, and on a few other sites.

Here are the pics of the fucked oilpan. What you are about to see may disturb you...

Do you have a picture of the full oil pan? My M10 one looks to be about 1/4 that size.

Some one needs to make a sheet AL oil pan!

The cast one just will NOT hold up to any kind of hits or abuse! At least with a sheet pan it will dent, or deform, not shatter!

Just about any time a E30 race car goes off course, this is what happens.

Been there with the holed oil pan myself. Last November. Same scenario too.....rock in the road, and the rock won. However, the damage to my cars' pan wasn't as bad. I patched the two small holes with JB Weld. To this day its still holding up really good.
