    s14 engine in a 318 body

Has anyone ever put in a s14 engine in a 318is body? My oil pump decided to fuck up and i had some metal to metal rubbing in my engine... so now i need a new one... so if anyone has any information on that change it would help... thanks...

and also a place where i could possibly find a s14, maybe m50 engines...

    Thanks
    Brad

Someone on www.cardomain.com did that to his 318is. Look around there for 1991 BMW 3-series, you should find it.

That's the plan for me too, whenever mine dies. :D
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Nice S14's cost a lot more than your average engine...

It'd be cheaper to sell your car and buy a new one than to buy an S14

Same logic applies to the M50 as well.

It would be cheaper to buy a new car but like he said not as much fun.

You just have to keep in mind that were are not talking hundreds of dollars here. I expect to pay 6-7 THOUSAND before I finally get this thing in and running. This is for an S50 though, you could prolly save about 2k in just getting a run of the mill M50 but its not that much more power out of the box, just has more potential.

Now the S14 can be just as powerful as the S50 but you will be looking to spend at least 9k on the motor for that and then you gotta get it put in. The stock S14 isnt going to be blindingly fast anyway, not as much as you would spend on it. You would be able to do an M20 cheaply though as those can be had for a couple hundred.

since its sounding like those engines are out of the picture

what about a 92 318is engine... any difference than the 91?(M42)

The M42 has more power for sure but if you are going to actually change wiring harnesses and all why not just get an M20B25? they are far more common than the 318is motor.

well my dad can get me a 92 318 motor for 800 with 62,000 miles on it

and your saying the 92 318is m42 has more power than the 91 318is m42?

Actually, I think they're the same. But that wouldn't be too bad, as you need a motor, it's the same has what you've had.

The M44 is the upgraded M42. Not even sure if you can convert that to the E30.

96+ cars only too. With the coin you'd spend on one of those, an M20B25 would be a much better choice.

I heard that S14's are incompatible with nasty chrome wheels.
