You can get the multithrottle kit and the split second kit from BMPD for about 3k. Not sure how much Hp that gives you, but something I am considering way in the future.

I'd stay away from their kit. It looks similar to the Dbilas setup. What's trying to be done here is not end up @ the same cost for a Dbilas or BMPD setup after everything is said and done. Assigning $ to blood and sweat will not happen though, those are not applicable.

In my opinion, the DIY gets expensive when you have to deal with the electrical parts such as ditching the AFM etc after dealing with some small machining costs (non-applicable for those who have the resources, how many of these people actually have m42...I dunno), then you have dyno tuning etc to make sure everything is right for both BMPD and DIY apps...yeah fun fun fun (NOT!)

Someone start this already...Jake...you're the guinea pig...sell the simmons...

If you can afford that, you can buy an s14 which will probably make more power stock and not need nearly as much tweaking

Theres a lot of other nuances that come w/ having an S14 that would make the tweaked M42 pretty cool (at least in my mind).

Hey guys, I was just suggesting this as an alternative and trying to see how much the pre fabs cost. I'd like to be "Genuine BMW Parts" too. If anyone has done this, I'd really like to do the s14 parts swap. So if anyone wants to give me some cash money, I'd gladly be the guinea pig. :D

I need a lot more done first before an engine mod :), but I was just checking. ;)

Getting ITBs to work might be a little tricky due to the angle of the intake port/injector and spacing. You can however pick up used 46mm TB's for around $50-200 if you want to tackle the project. Otherwise, you might want to try a custom aluminum plenum with a large diameter junkyard throttlebody or something.

I could see the advantages of ITB's along with a decent set of cams, porting, MAF, s14 plenum, tunned piggy back unit and a good exhaust. Thats the mods i hopefully will be undertaking in a couple of months of saving. \
An s14 is out of the equation as i am very pleased with owning a M42, + people expect power out of a engine that reads BMW Motorsport not out of a M42. i want a sleeper more than anything.

Streetspec is , who has cams available in our neck of the woods?
                          Does Tighe still make them?

well, i was informed the other day that Ivan has stepped down, but his son is now running the business. but i guess that means they are still making them, hopefully they are still as good as their reputation. other than that it will be a nasty pay up for Schricks.

I think you'd have to have pretty aggressive camshafts to take advantage of this along with a high-performance valvetrain to follow. Instead of MAF, I'd go to the Alpha-n method and use standalone engine management instead of a tuned piggy-back.
