sorry if this was already covered
its kind of a noob question
with a 4:10 does that make it so each gear lasts longer like more speed per revs or is it the opposite?
i wonder because i like the way my bros stang accelerates cause it can get to a pretty hight mph per gear(not really hight but pretty high compared to mine)

Higher ratios typically increase acceleration and lower top end. Unless you do some modding, I wouldn't change the differential, or you'll be out of your best power range.
The higher the ratio of the diff, the shorter the gears last, but the quicker you go through them. I *almost* have to two-shift to 60 w/my 4.10 -- 60 is pretty much the rev limiter in second.
"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
what a drag!!! I checked that company before I bought my 4.10 but they didn't have any. I don't really want to spend another 500 for another diff. Somebody should buy that thing right away as you'll probably never see another one. I might know a guy that'll take my 4.10lsd but I doubt I'll bother... The 4.10 is nice.
i switched from a 4.10 open diff on my 318is, then bought and installed e30matt's 3.91lsd. i honestly don't feel much difference off the line and you can tell the that gearing is slightly higher when driving on the highway, but any sacrifice i made in acceleration is worth having the LSD.
that's how I felt too, the difference between the 4.27 and the 4.10 wasn't enough to pass up a good lsd. If I can sell my 4.10lsd for what I paid I might go back to the 4.27 since that would be perfect.
You can make most of your money back on the 4.10 on the bay. I would go ahead and buy the 4.27 LSD if you hve the extra money and then sell off the 4.10 as it wont be very hard to sell the 4.10. .02
I do not have a 325i or a 318 but i have a 325e and when my 2.93 LSD went south on me i had a 3.73 LSD sitting in the corner of the garage so i put that in there and lets just say you run out of gears before you hit 50 MPH. there is no real 1st but you adjust. Its kinda of funny to drive that car arond for weeks on end and then to hop into my bone stock 4 dr eta. 8) Longer gears Takes longer to accelerate..so on
