    Solid lifters

Thought crossed my mind after reading about "high rev kits" for BMW engines...

Are there any BMW engines out there w/solid lifters that would fit the M42?

if you mean fitting an entire engine, then the euro s50's had solid lifters

apparently the s50 lifters do fit the m42. the m42 is rumoured to be very closely related to the s50.

I remember hearing somewhere you can use the pistons as well?

Could parts from an S14 or S50 be combined to finish out the job?

you can use the pistons, but the block needs to be bored a bit. they arent just drop in. this process apparentyl would bring capacity up towards 2.0l.

nothing from the s14 is compatable without modification.

couldnt say to be honest. i mean, its obviously going to give you something, but whether or not it is economically viable,i dont know.

i kinda like the idea of having a little 2/3 s50 thing going on. mmmm, 190hp.

dont forget the harmonic balancer, which is another limiting factor in the m42's revs

Well, what could be done about it?

Or, we could figure out how to get the M42 above 8000RPMs.

Back on topic, I noticed awhile back that BMPD sold hi-rev kits for the 93+ M42 engines.

Just thought I'd share. Look at the durations on the cams.

there is definately a point of diminishing returns that is reached when you start spending $2200 on cams for a motor thats worth like $500
