Sure you didn't damage the new VC gasket when you were replacing the cover? Is it torqued down properly? Can get a good vac leak there.

I don't see how I would have damaged the valve cover gasket. I put a drop of permatex here and there so it would lay flat. I torqued it all down to 11 ft. lbs. Regardless, I got another valve cover gasket, and a 3/8" drive torque-wrench (the one I was using was 1/4 and too bulky), and I'm going to do it all over again.

I'm also going to install another distributor cap and rotor since I have new plugs gapped at the Robert Bentley specification and new wires.

      wish me luck

Rodrigo, did changing the rotor and cap help your idle or was it the spark plugs?

you know, i really am not sure. I did it all at the same time...dont know if it was a re-adjustment or the cap and rotor. if the cap and rotor have not been done in a while it should be changed anyway...and if it is not that, then you can re-install the old one and save the new one for later on down the road.

So you just gaped new spark plugs and did the rotor and cap and your idle was fine?
