    Clean/Rebuild/Coolant delete 325i Throttle Body

During the colder season, I experienced my throttle sticking a little bit on startup and driving, which I was told was NOT normal and it should be rebuilt/cleaned throughly.

So I bought a used one from Ely, thanks. And can spend my spare time rebuilding this one. Basically, Jordan told me to take it apart and clean it well. I was wondering if there were any gaskets or such that needed to be replaced.

I was also interested in what it would take to delete the coolant passage through the TB. I was thinking just seal off the connection on the TB and then use a male-to-male connector with the coolant hoses.....possibly cutting them as to shorten the circuit.

I am not sure. thanks for the help.

Oh yeah, anyone feel using the Dremel to polish / port the TB a little would help at all, or just a waste of time? I might if I am bored one afternoon.

yah, yah. I can see how you would say that, but I believe the sticky throttle is more of grime and crud, not as much temperature. it just seemed to have more often when it was winter.

Alright, so don't delete the coolant passanges, then? 10-4.

Any gaskets, seals, or anything I should replace?

yes a cork one that seals the coolant thingy.
take off the 3 hex? screws and you'll see the gasket. then just a new gasket to go between TB and intake

              ah, thanks.

WD40 + elbow grease + time should get it operating better than my current one.

purple power or simple green or equivalent, or hell, carb cleaner would probably work as well

Don't use "purple power" or any other purple colored general purpose cleaners. They are acidic, and are particularly nasty to aluminum. It will eat/corode it.

I just replaced this gasket in my car. I noticed something was wrong when a nice puddle of coolant appeared in the garage. The old gasket, when I got the thing apart, was in shreds. I put a new one in and the problem is fixed.
