    "e" Power

I have an '85 325e. I need power, but want to retain the e engine. I also don't want to break my wallet. I know chip, exhaust, intake....I've heard of "I" head and ecu. But ive heard you have to swap pistons for that to retain proper comp. So what can i do to get some zing outta this olde???

    thanks

this is gonna be your biggest help.... there is a search button in the menu bar. type in whatever you want, that's where you'll get the most info, everything you can imagine is in there...

E and POWER should never be used in the same sentence :D

correction, CHEAP and power should never be used in the same sentence. My car will always be an 'e'.

Like they said do a search. I can tell you I think you might be dissapointed with the results, the engine wasnt designed for a 14 second 1/4 mile.
        Im now E30less.

I've determined a few things about the eta motor. The number one is to just leave it stock and be happy with it. The thing to do however is install the 323i head because it will bolt on. Then get the wiring harness and ecu from a 325i car. This way you can run the single mass flywheel and have the benefit of the 323 head with a smoother running fuel injection.

You could always try to put dual valve springs on the eta head so they wont float at higher rpms, then you can spin it a bit faster with the right computer set-up. After viewing all of the options, i would probably do the 323 head swap, but i think i am just going to get a JC chip for a bit more pep.

Or just get rid of the ETA all together, I love my m20b27, but I know not to spend a dime on it...

I had my dads old engine buider do mine and i don't know everything he did to it but, it's all stack exept for the chip i put in a little while ago, and i have taken my dad, in my moms e46 325 3 times now. So to all those who say it can't be done, i'll see you at the track. You have to get power out of the lower rpms, don't try and get high end out of it, the engine was not designed for it, make it breath, the e block is a torque monster waiting to be unleashed. I rebuilt it from the ground up, so putting bolt on parts or replacing parts will not give you the same effect.

You might want to get it checked at the dealer then because Eta's are fucking slow, I know, I have 2.

i know that quite well my sister has one too. But like i said, we rebiult mine from the ground up. When you get a guy that builds sprint car engines for a living helping you, it helps, just a little bit.

But, you said the engine was all stock except the chip? There's no way an Eta could pull on an E46 325i unless some work had been done to it, other than a chip... That's all he's really saying.

there has been work done to it, but it's all stock parts, there for a stock motor. We never added perfance parts or anything like that, He knows how to get power using little to no equiptmment, and thats what he did. I am sipmly saying it can be done, I was told a million time before i bought it that i could not happen. Then everyone appolgized when they saw the product, the guy i bought the car from offered to buy it back.

OK, so unlesss you have a sprint car motor builder doing your motor on the side, here is a general rule.

                            Cheap: power: e motor...pick any 2.

Do you honestly believe there is a special way of putting a motor back together this guy knows about that makes it super duper awesome. Get real man. If your car is beating a new 325 then you have something done to the motor. Stop believing theres all stock parts in there or stop fibbing about beating the e46.

Have you ever even taken a motor apart, do you understand anything about it?
