oh my bad (I'm not good in converting miles in km's)

eerm yea The M42 is already an highly tuned engine you can lighten your flywheel
I've heard by Kempower (one of belgian nr 1 tuners) they'll able to make at least 190hp
out of an M42 (rebored to 2.0)
you can put also invidual TB's but personally I don't think it will gain much on a stock engine
and keep in mind "weight is your biggest enemy" 8)

    318iS's where made from */1989 till 6/1991

New Brunswick is a district in York

Are you hitting the red line?

Usually the top speed of a e30 will be limited by hp and aerodymanics.

If you put a higher geared diff in there it will probably never get rolling

my car has been lowerd by 50mm 6.5 x 15" alloys head skimmed side skirts rear m3 mtec spoiler and it would be doing 130mph red lining maybe 135mph

well if i lightened the flywheel would i loose power from top end or bottom end speed
as we have a local workshop who lighten flywheels

also would my ecu be messed up

should my car have a cat on it ??

he has an M42 in a 1600 chassis wich is pretty much lighter I think

Bob: the only thing i know is that our (Begium) early 318iS s wheren't equipped with an cat. (1989/1990)

          just check under your car
a lighter flywheel provides the rev. happyness of your eng.
the ECU will be opened for a chip

1600 chassis. e30? the bodies should weigh the same, execpt if it is a cabby, wagon, "ix", or "M" car.

I am just saying not to go to much lower numerically because the four cylinder will not be able to pull against the added air forces.

the best beat would be to make the engine have the ability to rev higher

What's the difference between the large and/or small case? I've got an '86 325e I'd like to "quicken up" a little. Which one would be the easiest to put in? I'd prefer the 3.73, though. Thanks for any info.

mounting for both is the same.

I had a small case 3.91 LSD (which is for sale) in my 318i and I now have 3.73 LSD large case ( for sale). they fit right in.
