Best way to bleed system is, on motor cold, open the screw, and fill it up until it's starts coming out from there, when it does, close it, start the car up, run it, until thermostat opens up, and then try bleeding it until clean running water comes out, and keep doing it until you get hot air in the vents also, and until water starts running like I said from the screw, not throwing out, and blowing smoke out.
Could be your headgasket also, check the hoses when it's running, if you feel alot of pressure, and it's hard to squeeze than most likely your headgasket is leaking, blowing pressure into the cooling system.
Was the thermostat new? If so don't bother but if yes, it could be bad? take it out completely and run it without one, see if it's still runs hot, if it does, like I said, it could be one of two.
