Ive started to have this issue myself. Last time I pulled the cluster out, half the solder joints were all cracked, so I fixed all that, fixed my bouncy temp and fuel gauge, and everything was set. I noticed that the SI board batteries had leaked onto the board, which I tried to clean up, but I dont think it helped.
The SI board will not reset now (when I first got it, it did), and slowly, things started to fail. The coolant light on the OBC stays on (it used to come on from time to time, an indication that the SI board was starting to fail), sometimes the washerfluid light comes on, then my MPG needle went from half working, to not working at all, and now the tach, after driving for a long period of time will just drop dead.
I really hate SI boards..Ive been trying to find a good one for some time, and Ive had no luck at the yards.
