    Overheating issue

Ok so last night i was driving on the freeway and i heard a squeal from a loose belt, i didnt pay to much attention to it since i knew the alternator belt would make a squeal everyonce in a while.

Then 2-3 mins later the needle starts going up to 3/4's, no big deal thats normal then over the next min and a half it keeps going to red. I pull over and pop the hood and its steaming very slightly. I get some water pour it in the rad let the car chill for about 10 mins. I'm about 10 miles from home so i decide to try and make it home (thinking to myself im going to regret it later). I'm pissed so i just wanna get home and after 3miles i hear a PSSSSSSSH and then there is steam/mist coming up from my feet roll down the windows and go to crank the heat and its not blowing hot anymore. I previousy had it blowing on 2.

I check it out and no hoses are busted but it looks like the coolant is dripping from the water pump but its hard to see from the steam. i let the car sit for a lil bit then start going again im about 4 miles from home and the belts are squealing real bad so i'm on a slight downslope and shut the car off and coast to the next exit. After 10 mins i check it out and a belt popped off.

I assume there is some engine damage but what do you guys think messed up on me??? I'm about to have the car towed here now thanks to my uncles AAA. Before i get flamed for not towing it sooner i still have my insurance from IN and just haven't switch it to CA.

I would say either the belt got loose and wasn't driving the pump enough, or the pump bearings seized.

kylebes1, your sig sounds like your talking about my car.

UPDATE: One of my fan blades broke off, i did lose a belt while the another was ripped up pretty nicely. The water pump is pretty fucked, the shaft just wiggles around and i can pull and push in and out.

SO how do i get the water pump out????? It looks like a cover goes over the pump so i took out 4 of the bolts but ive decided to take a break and eat plus i need to study for a quiz. ANY HELP guys?? if not ill check it out at school tomorrow.

The crazy thing is that im not even that really pissed of about it.

buy a bentley.. it's pretty simple. when's the last time your timing belt was changed? you're already halfway there once you have the waterpump out..

they've got one on ebay for 39 i think. or... you can try your hand at this one (no reserve and only one person seems to care about it)
