I was just wondering how long you could go with the gas light on.

I'd recommend never going below 1/4 of a tank of gas.....keep the bitch full. If not to impress the ladies or avoid problems, at least do it for your fuel pump.- 2000 Audi S4 Stg 2 (sold)
- house (bought)
- 1997 Civic Hatch (shaky but driveable)
- 2010 Sportster 1200 Forty Eight Ed. (vroom)
- 1991 318is S50B30 (TBA)

The leaves in the tank thing is a wives tale but there is a truth...
The in-tank fuel pumps (of you have one) are cooled by the fuel, they use the fuel as a giant heat-sink. If the pump isnt fully submerged it can heat up causing premature wear on it. Not enough to start a fire or anything but it CAN wear it out a little faster. Plus think about how stupid you would look on the side of the highway.
Now that said that....
I have managed to go over 50 miles with the light on in my Eta and when I pulled onto the street where I was going to buy gas the OBC just changed from 10mi to ---. :oops:Im now E30less.
