do I have to use a certain type of battery?

This might be a dumb question but do I have to use a battery with the vent hole on it? I was looking up parts on the computer at work yesterday and it said the only battery we had in stock for the e30 was a type 47 with the vent on it. I was wondering if I can just use one of the economy batteries without the vents to use on my parts car.

you want a vent on it, unless you want that shit building up in your interior.. there is no price difference, you can get that battery type at any autoparts store.

I work at advance auto parts and the only one we had with a vent on it was $70. I wanted one of the economy batteries cause they're like $25 plus I get 20% off anything so that would be the cheapest. Could I use an Optima red or yellow top?

how long have u worked at advanced? Ive taken a shitload of optima warrantys at Oreillys. We have the right group and i think retail is like 50 ish where my price is around 39, I believe thats a 72 month 2 year free replacement, plus depending on where you live it might be higher depending on the market.

heh, heres an idea, see if they will price match it to my Oreillys employee discount lol

plus heres another idea, you can do the m30 AFM swap for cheap, order an A1 off of like an 88 535i, and put her on, I think my price was around 80 with exchange, Sorry dont remeber the p/n and you get the lifetime warranty cant beat that. Too bad you guys have cheap brake and cheap chassis parts though ;)
