185k on 87 325i. Is it stupid to put in new injectors?

Now it may be stupid to fix stuff that is not broken but I am never going to learn that. The most we can accomplish is avoid repairing stuff that when broken (by me) will not make me cry. In other words I am always screwing with stuff I dont need to and that is not the debate here.

Ok here is my issue. I Have some hesitation when cold with the car. I put in a new o2 sensor and did a tune up, cap rotor plugs.

Is it a good or reasonable idea to replace the injectors after that much milage and will it make the car run any better. Do these things fail often or am I lkely to get another 100K+ out of them.

I am also considering a FPR and a coolant sensor to complete the overhaul of possiblitities. I I also want to get the valves adjusted at some time.

Is it a waste of money to put in new plugs at this point

    Thanks guys.

Instead of buying/installing new fuel injectors, check out

Instead of buying/installing new fuel injectors, check out this service:

    A less expensive alternative.

Just buy a used set of eBay and have them refurbished (that way you don't have any downtime while injectors are being serviced).

Replacing any original part on a 185k mile car is never a bad idea.

it won't hurt anything, you might improve your fuel mileage and the car will run better for sure. but try getting them cleaned first, it's a bit cheaper than brand new injectors. and not that crap you buy in a bottle and stick in your gas tank either..

Hey, an occasional bottle of fuel injector cleaner never hurts. I would run a bottle through about every six-eight months. The first time I did it, it made a very noticeable difference.

yeah, but it's not going to magically make 185k injectors like new. a professional cleaning is what he needs..

I had my injectors all cleaned and checked when I did my intake manifold swap, while nothing was wrong its always nice to make sure everything is running properly

I did it at 194K miles I think

                Thanks to everyone for responding.

I am new to this forum but I am impressed that this one is the best out there for e30s.

I would not mind paying for a professional cleaning but for about the same price I could put new ones in. These parts are not that exspensive for this car. Is there a way to ohm test the injectors without the hassle of taking stuff apart or screwing around with them. Is there some remote location, even the ecu unit ports would be nice. If they ohm test out of range than I would replace them and be happy about it. I ran alot of sea foam through the intake and the gas.

Is replacing them a huge pita or just a tight job. about how long would it take the first time through. Keep in mind it takes me about 5 minutes to whip my ass. (Just kidding) but I tend to turn small jobs into marathons.

                thanks agian

Give the BG 44k stuff a try. It worked wonders on my 150k-ish injectors. The car felt noticably better as I went through that tank of gas.

It takes around 30 min to replace all the injectors and rip out/replace the fuel rail

                      Thanks again

IF I replace all that stuff I should also replace the fuel rail with a new one.

I really am enjoying this car. It drives nice and I want it to be at peak performance.

I am used to slow ass diesels.

I like the way these cars pull up to 4000 grand

I am also debating wether or not to go to bilsteins touring or HD.

I do like this little car

I had it up to 100 mph no problem.

                      thanks for all the info
