    Pins to run starter?

In the round diagnostic port of a 87 325is, what pins do you use to run the starter with a switch, to spin the engine for a valve adjustment?

You don't really need to plug into the diagnostic connector to spin the starter, you can clip one lead for the remote button on the positive lead at the starter, and one on the appropriate terminal on the starter.

the diagnostic connector is much easier to get to than the starter..

I don't remember off the top of my head, but somebody posted it on one of the E30 mailing lists I'm subscribed to. I'll look and see if I can find it (I'm definetly doing it that way next time I adjust my valves).

Just put the car in 5th, and roll the car back and forth. You can do it with 1 finger. Its cake. Its also alot more acurate then wailing on the starter.

lol, its really not hard to get to the starter, that's why your arm has some length built into it.
