just seafoam it once a year (in the oil) if you are bad with your oil changes. otherwise just do it once so you have a clean slate and keep up on the oil changes.

lots of people run regular oil, i run mobil 1 15-50 and go a little longer on the oil changes. when i first got the car it ran conventional oil and i did 2 short change intervals with the mobil1 and got some pretty dirty oil out.
i added seafoam at the next oil change and got some really nasty crap out of it.

after that, the oil was much cleaner in between changes. i just did it again 3 months ago (3 years from the last time i did it. there really wasn't much gunk compared to the regular oil changes.

Change your oil weekly for a little while until new oil put in is clean looking on the dipstick.

Lubro-Moly makes an engine flush product. I've used it before, you just run your car up to operating temp. add the bottle, idle for like 10 minutes, then change your oil. I don't know how well it works but the placebo effect is good in any case and I do trust lubro-moly products.

ATF will clean it out some due to its high detergent content. But don't run it for too long.

I've changed oil regularly. •••••Previous owner of engine didn't change it I assume.

started a topic looking to flush engine.

    looking to flush engine.

Any ideas on how to rid my engine of lots of gunk inside? Engine came that way but I would like to flush it out if possible without blowing it up. Oil has been changed regularyl. I heard adding a quart of ATF for about 50 miles before oil change will clean it up a bit... Any tips?
    Thanks..
