Oil Filter: Mahle, Mann or Bosch?

Any major benefits in going with one or the other?

I've used all three. I prefer Mann, and have never had or heard a complaint about any of them. Bosch can be had at your local parts store though, so that's a plus.

I use Bosch especially after looking at the info on this web page.

It is amazing to see how filters are rebranded. This is pretty detailed stuff.

I use Mann or Mahle, whatever is on the shelf. Usually it's the Mann (I think) that come in the green/yellow box.

I guess it weighs less than the others?

                      No...

In 28 years of BMW Service/Repair I have seen many dozens of the others fail for one reason or another...

                      Mahle/Knecht...Maybe one or two.

How did they fail? Other than improper installation, incorrect application, or being left in the vehicle far beyond the maintenance interval..

Can seams leaking, Media Failures, Anti Drain Valve failures...

Even within a normal service life and at least semi competent installations... (there are some monkeys working on cars that could fuck up a soup sandwich...seen a lot of that as well)

Seems to me Bosch has been the top offender...

There is a reason Mahle is OE (Was Purolator in the 70's and very early 80's though)

No to hijack this thread, but wasn't there a comparison on oem paper air filters to K&N? The results showed either Mann or Mahle flowed just as well or better than the K&N, but had better filtration? Does anyone have that article?
