On the 325i 1991 BMW they have lights where it says Brakes Engine Oil and so on. Well my coolant one is on? What exactly does that mean? I already replaced the thermastat and put fresh coolant in. This was like two weeks before this light came on. Its been on for two days now. So whats up?

have you checked your coolant level since the light came on? It usually means you NEED coolant. You might not have put enough in, or maybe forgot to replace the cap so some has spilled out? Or might have a leak now? Check your level. If the level is fine, I have NO clue.

Have you checked the coolant level sensor? A lot of times these will go bad causing a coolant light that will never go away.

BUT, since it wasn't on and now it is, it could be low coolant. Is your car still running at the same temp as usual?Comment

Yes its running same temp. According to the scale its just past 2/4 from the left. =p Thats why I haven't gotten that worried. My lights tend to come on and off spontaenously (spelling??).Comment

Mine does that too. And I know for sure I have enough coolant. I've checked.Originally posted by e30MattHave you checked the coolant level sensor? A lot of times these will go bad causing a coolant light that will never go away.
I hate it when the coolant light comes on. Had a girl in the car last night and asked why the lights were on and I had to say I don't know because nothing is wrong. Also my low beam check light comes on when I turn on my headlamps too. I don't know why because the low beams work just fine (Bosch H4s with Osram Silverstars).
What's the means of replacing the sensor? Is it just the connector on top?

AFAIK you just unscrew that one, and replace it with a new part. What year/model is your car, I'll look up the number.Originally posted by spencersMine does that too. I'd probably suggest BMA, seeing as we get a discount there.
