    WHAT IS THE BEST OIL...>>>>>>

The perpetual question... What do you guys use... brand, weight, and WHY!!?

    Spare no technical details!

If you have links to techy articles on the issue send em along, test numbers are always fun.

I have 223k on my engine and use 20w-50 Castrol GTX High Mileage... That works fine for me now... w/e, but in the future when I get a car with less mileage, more compression, and fewer worn out parts, id like to know what offers the best protection under harsh conditions.

    THanks,
    Matt

BTW- cross posting is fucking annoying. I suggest you listen to what the 'brains' at DTM power tell you.

Really what you should worry about is optimizing the tmp range for your climate. Brands are brands, the additives are what makes them different and that the only part that actually breaks down. Now you will always get contamination from gas vapor, that is why you have to change the oil.

Rob, im not looking for the name of an oil so much as tech data about different oils. I dont care about what people are running... I know its different for everyone, and for most people their choice is based on anything but performance... im just wanting to read up on the characteristics... i find it interesting.

Bimmerphile... thats true but i was wondering if anyone had a link to a more comparative, unbiased look at the popular oils. Manufacturers tend not to be
