Rough idle...warning lights on verrrry dim

Im up at school in NH now and my car is in CT but i was thinking about going to get it this weekend for show n' shine at bav auto. The thing is before i take it on the trip there were a few things that concerned me when i left it. The last day or so when i was driving it it had a rough idle and at night i noticed that all of the dash warning lights were on but very dimly lit, also i think i heard a slight whine that carried through the rev's (maybe till about 3500rpm) but i cant be to sure because the tri flo is just a little to loud Everything else seems fine, engine pulls strong and starts with no problem.

Any thoughts? Or anyone else going to show and shine this Sun?

    Thank you guys

    Andy

I wouldnt leave the neighboorhood. No joke.

Right now your alternator is most likely producing 10-11 volts maximum, and low amperage as well. Sooner or later your engine will start to misfire as your battery slowly drains out.

Seriously. I wouldn't take it any further away from home then you want to push it.

My belt snapped 80km away from home. I figured I could make it since it was charging well before, but I only managed 40km before my fuel pump ran out of power. Thank fully I limped into a Canadian Tire and bought a new belt and got a boost. It's scary shit man, the last 20km I had 0 lights inside, and the car was misfiring like shit. Don't take it out of the neighbourhood.

                    Keep it slideways!!

Try replacing the brush/diode assembly before you spring for a new alternator. I did that to fix an identical problem and 30,000 miles later and still running the original alternator. I did visually check that the brushes were too short and grooved.
