    Fuel System Issues

First off.. I tried searching for this, but it gave me 10+ pages to sort through.

Bought an 89 vert this morning with fuel system issues. Fuel pump is not kicking on.

Started the morning by replacing the pump and the relay with known good pieces. Still not kicking on. Any thoughts?

Check the fuse? Can you jump power to that circuit at the fuse box and get it to turn on?

All fuses are good. I tried jumping the fuse anyways.. no change.

Are you checking the pump when cranking the engine? The DME won't run the fuel pump unless it is working and sees timing data from a rotating engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I don't even have the fuel filter currently installed. If the fuel pump were running then I SHOULD have a puddle of gas under the car.

Oh, I read the emphasis of his question wrong.

Yes, I am cranking the engine. No fuel delivery.

Okay, is there spark when cranking the engine? No spark and no fuel pump operation would be:

                1) No power to the DME
                2) No Start signal to the DME
                3) No timing reference data to the DME
                4) Bad DME
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Cool.. now at least I have a checklist for tomorrow.

                  Check for spark.
If no spark, swap DME and crank position sensor.

i had a problem just like that but it was intermitten. as long as it has no spark that turned out it was a faulty power wire to the computer. check for power going to the fuel pump relay
