Only happens in the rain when I'm stopping pretty hard, almost always when slowing down for a stop sign going down a hill. Hear a loud clunking from the front and feel it in the pedal. What would be causing this?

Oh yea forgot to ask. Could this just be the ABS doing it's job? Not really sure how it should feel? It's pretty loud though and only coming from the front so I assumed it's not.
Edit: Oh and I replaced the pads and rotors recently. Only did the rears myself though and the mechanic said that the front right caliper is getting stuck sometimes. Could this be the issue?
Sorry, have very little mechanical knowledge.88 325is

When the ABS engages, the brake pedal should sink down and vibrate.Oh yea forgot to ask. Could this just be the ABS? Not really sure how it should feel? It's pretty loud though and only coming from the front so I assumed it's not.
