84 318i wont run, need 84-85 318i owner to help troubleshoot

I need someone with an '84 318i to help me trouble-shoot the start problems I've been having by disabling systems until the issue is duplicated. The problem is that the when I turn the key, the engine will run, but stops when I stop turning it over. James Crivellone came by and troubleshooted the electrical system and didn't find anything wrong with it, the fuel pressure is fine, the engine is in good shape.

Tips, advice, and help is greatly appreciated.

ignition systems have to power wires powering the coil. 1 is on while crankin (to provide a higher voltage) while starting and the other runs while the car is running through a resistor, perhaps only the firs one is working?

ok, fuel pressure is (still) fine, there's spark, and its narrowed down to either the relays or the ecu. i pulled two of the relays, one is a small cubed metal 5 prong general relay with no part number and the pins laid out as

    30
86     87
86c 85

and the fuel injection relay has part number 0 280 230 001.

can someone with an '84 318i check their own relays and verify that these are the right parts? my repair manual doesnt come for a week or two.
