    Brake Vaccuum booster or?

Well I was driving to school today and my car scared the shit out of me. The brakes were working fine until I was coming to a stoplight and the pedal decided to hiss and go all the way to the floor. I pumped it a bit and it worked, but I was experiencing intermittent problems with the brake pedal slowly making its way to the floor at complete stops.

Anyway, I threw on a new master cylinder, but I haven't had time to bleed the brake lines yet because it's dark. The pedal has like no pressure at all and needs to go all the way to the floor until it stops, but it stops fine. Is this caused by air in the lines or is it possibly the brake booster going out? I hear no noises from the engine compartment, either. Any other possibilities?

BLEED THOSE LINES! thats one of your issues, even without the brake boosted you should still have a firm pedal feel during braking, it just needs more effort to stop

right on, thanks for the quick response. I've never had to replace a master cylinder so I wasn't sure if that was going to be an after-effect. I'm taking it to get bled tomorrow morning. hopefully nothing else is wrong. Thanks again :)

        Are you fucking stupid?

That is a rhetorical question, do not answer it.

The braking system is easily the most important item on any car, and you rendered it useless by forgoing the bleeding on account of you were too busy?

Park the car dumb ass. Bleed it, THEN drive.

ok, i have not driven my goddam car yet. i do not plan on it. i am taking it to get the lines bled tomorrow morning because i don't have jack stands at my house and would rather it be done properly than having the whole fucking car tip over because my bilstein jack tipped while i tried for 20 minutes to get each lug off with my tire iron. fuck man, i'm not fucking retarded. i don't act like im turning wrenches for a living, i just do what i'm capable of doing in my garage to cut the costs of taking it to a shop. i don't have the luxury of a spare car so i have to get this done as fast as i can.

you're not supposed to loosen your lug nuts with the car on a jack.

Thats why its going to take him 20 minutes per lug.
