    mufflers

My muffler is getting louder day by day, and the bottom of it has a big rusty spot that i could probably poke a pen through if i wanted to. With that said, i need new exhaust soon. I dont have alot of money right now to blow on a cat back system(i will eventually get the IE system probably). But what mufflers with dual in dual out tips sound good and are not too expensive. What mufflers are you guys using that arnt too loud. I like the sound of jordans brullen but i cant really spend that much right now. I was thinking of more of borla or flowmaster, along those lines. Any suggestion?where to look?(im looking on Jegs right now but i dont know if thats the best place)(also its dual 2.5in pipes right?)

    thanks.

Magnaflow has a lot of dual in dual out cans for $100 or less for stainless steel. They will still require custom installation though, because I am fairly sure the inlet pipes and the spacing between the pipes won't match up to the stock down pipes. This will be the same with any universal mufflers too. And if you want to get one of the fully polished cans with tips already installed, they are pretty much all the bling bling chrome looking canisters. I like that on the tips, but not on the muffler housing itself.

Yea i know what you mean about the bling on the can. I would probably paint the can of the IE if i ever get one. Hmmm id rather have a muffler that just goes right up to the pipes w/o any more work. How much would just mufflers like jordans go for? Any websites that i can look at?(im trying to find some right now and im not turning out with anything :? )

If rust is the problem on your current muffler, Ansa probably wouldn't be a good choice. They don't sound very good either.

I think Jordan's muffler was around $300-350 with the tips, but I don't think he just has it mounted to the stock downpipes like you want to do.

damn they cut that bitch short on the intake side didn't they? That might be a hassle, but if it is cheap enough I guess its ok.

I was going to say I have an almost new 325i factory cat back exhaust sitting in my garage if you wanted to buy it, but I forgot you have a 4 banger.

It's just dirty. There is a small dent in the bottom but it doesn't affect anything. It's less than a year old. It was uncoated so it has a lot of road grime and maybe slight surface rust on the tips... I don't remember. It's a grey color. If I were you I'd wash it off and spray paint the canister black, and do whatever you want with the tips (you could do black or silver paint, or sand them down and polish them like I did to my exhaust).

Ok ive decided to go with the brullen that jordan has. I love the sound  . I figure if i go this route i wont have to pay over 400 total and ill be happy with the sound and ill have a new muffler. Does anyone know if i would need 8in long tips or 6in long tips?

Ill probably order it at the end of the month when i have a few more paychecks in my bank account.

If you're gonna get a rear valence, are you going to have to have the exhaust refitted so it's centered properly in the cutout?

Something you might want to think about.

Yea i was thinking about that too. This is crappy timing :? . I didnt want to spend money unless ill have to. I guess i just wait on getting the brullen until I NEED to get a muffler. I love mufflers with holes in them :x
