replacing hardware (nuts, bolts, washers, etc.)

I've tried searching, but did not see anything really relevant to this. RealOEM is great for tracking down hardware that may or may not have accidentally been tossed into the trash. I can decipher most of the information in terms of size and grade, such as (M6X22-8.8-ZNS3) but cannot decipher the suffixes:

    Z3
    ZN
    ZNS
    ZNS3
    ZNT
    ZNNIV SI

I'm on McMaster trying to order replacements and for hardware they have 2 options related to zinc: Zinc Yellow-Chromate Plated (10.9) and Zinc-Plated (8.8). Which would be more appropriate? Also, if there is no grade listed, is it safe to assume 8.8 is adequate?

Those are all indications for plating and they are most likely in German.
AFAIK all unpainted hardware came with Zinc Yellow-Chromate plated. All fasteners that were holding body panels and were painted appear to be zinc plated to me. All hardware for the engine and drive train have some sort of zinc plating. Suspension hardware also.
If you are looking for screws, bolts and nuts for body panels, brackets and other nick nacks then 8.8 is plenty good.

Thanks for the reply. I'm making working on engine and drivetrain.

Anyone else have thoughts on the suffix?
