    Square C101 connectors... two versions?

I have a 12/84 production 325E. When I yanked the eta out, I foolishly forgot to scavenge the female side of the C101, so I bought one off a guy on here. Looking at images, the square C101s look like the one the guy sold me. 2 large gauge connectors, and the remaining ones are smaller pins. The male C101 on my harness has spots for 4 large pins (3 used) fewer smaller gauge pins and the connector itself is larger. Are there 2 different square C101's? 3? I'd rather use the connector to make my custom harness than chop off the plug, but if my weird big square C101 is some sort of unobtanium, I guess I will start chopping.

There are 2 versions like you found, but only 1 is correct for the E30. The other one is for E28/E24. The E30 one is the same as E23. What you could do is just convert your car to a round C101. Both the chassis side and the engine side are available.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm using my donor car engine harness, which is a OBD-1 E38, that uses a weird square connector itself. I will probably just splice and solder off the E38 connector. Less work. I also found a repro-square C101 E30 connector on E-bay... not sure if it's junk or not. Rather not pay $40+ shipping to find out.
