    Dssr length

Picked up a cheap DSSR locally.
matched up distance on my existing shift rod exact same length.
bought a newer style shift coupler and the car does not shift into 1 3 5.
i start googling and find out I should be running 187mm.
i look at my recently acquired DSSR and it has 189 on it DOH!!!!
i still can not believe that 2mm makes the difference !!!
Is thee any way I can use this 189mm dssr without modifying it?

The simplest way to mod it is to put a slight bend in the linkage to adjust it 2mm. The cars with large guibos have a bend in the shifter linkage for clearance anyway (like the e36 linkage below - see the bend at the front of the linkage).

I did this when doing my swap after being sent a linkage that was too long - I just heated it up a little and bent it to the right length & it has worked fine like that for more than 8 years.
