    1990 325i M20B25 Not Charging...Help!

    Hey R3V,

    Have a track day on Sunday so I need to fix this bug asap! The car will not charge the battery. If I charge the battery overnight the battery light will not come on. After driving the car the voltage will drop until the car is inoperable. Starting Volts is about 13v and will drop to about 12.8 when running and gradually fall. The battery light is very dim and will gradually get brighter as the voltage drops from driving the car. What am I missing? Need some help with exactly where I should be checking for voltage. Thank you guys in advance.

    Alternator Belt (Tensioned Properly)
    Engine Ground (Oil Pan to Chassis)

      Make sure you connected the alternator wires/ fully tightened?

          Just double checked and the wires are fully tightened. Is there a wire that is supposed to be attached to the small gold nut on the alternator in the center of the picture? The alternator was shipped with this nut but my old one didn't have a wire attached to it.

              alternator is bad? wires are crossed? you bought cheap vodka? part out? sent from hell using tapatalk
