Would this hose be due to the bypass of the throttle body ? I got the car without those lines installed on the throttle body

Actually, that's late model, if you have a <1988 you need:

The TB can be bypassed with no ill effect. A short piece of plugged hose at the thermostat housing, and the nipple on the back of the block can be replaced with an oil drain plug and washer.

hmmm now im wondering if the port on the back of the block being connected back to the thermostat housing be the reason why my car runs slightly cooler than normal. At this point i feel like leaving the current setup would be the smartest thing to do.

Doubt it. On the race cars we block both those ports, as well as the one on the back of the head and have never had any issues with cooling. More than likely, your thermostat is sticky/missing, or has a too low temp stat.

that engine block port is a great place to install a sender for a digital water temperature gauge. less wire to run and won't need to mess around with drilling holes into the thermostat housing.

Or an m20 oil pressure switch to warn low coolant pressure in a race car. ;)
