im gettin a second hand head repaired its costing me $290 au and the head cost me $330au thats a total reco and shaving 15 thou of the head. should i try get the camshaft grinded while its gettin worked on or is this an expensive thing to get done. Would it be hard to change the cam later or will i have to take the head of again?
also i asked them to do a port and polish but they sed it wouldnt be worth it

I believe you have to remove the head in order to change the cam (rockershafts are in the way). in any case it's a good idea to get it all done now and not worry about it later. if you have your cam reground don't forget you need the offset valve eccentrics to make up for the loss of lift. it shouldn't be too much either, don't know about in AU, but here it's much cheaper than a new performance cam.

On a lightly modified street engine you dont really need a port and polish. Just a port match would do.

yeh the mechanics looked at me like i was an idiot when i wanted like a port match they sed its not worth it for that engine. i got the head shaved a little extra but thats about it.

Does anyone know what the best kit would be for a cold air intake for my car the setup ive got is dogey and im looking to get something better
                  thanks
