    Rattle under rear of car

I have a clanking/rattling sound coming from under the car on the rear drivers side. All can say in describing it is it sounds like a rather thin metal shroud or other part rattling under the car. Growing up in the seventies and eighties I remember this being a common noise on many car models. Any advice on finding the culprit? I’ve felt around some but can’t find and loose parts. Shocks and springs replaced. So not the shocks. Muffler replaced so not suspect. Maybe a heat shield or something. I’ve read other posts on this but haven’t found anyone who documented solving the problem.

It could be due to bad rear sway bar endlinks and/or rear sway bar bushings. Hard to know without a video or recording of the sound.

Exhaust shield for the down pipe or other shield that may be on the exhaust. Jack the car up and listen for it.
