    Need Help, Nut Keeps Spinning

Ok this is not my car in the picture but just an example.

This SOB in the circle on my car keeps spinning when I try to remove the nut. ANY tricks to getting it off?

Have you been able to get the nut to come a little loose?

The bolt that the nut goes on is removable, altho' they shouldn't come loose too easily, but that might have happened.. with your tire off you can probably reach for that bolt from beneath it and push it up so that it goes into place again, or maybe you can drag it upwards by grabbing the nut or something..

It's this type of a bolt

where those vertical grooves that are right under the head are suppose to slide into the upper strut mount and lock it in place when you screw on/off that nut.. so it might have come loose but you should be able to get it in place and remove the nut if that's the case.

Try getting a little prybar underneath the nut and pry upwards as you turn the nut loose, might pull the stud into the place.

Arch, remove the other two nuts from the strut mount and jack the car up until the strut mount starts to pull away from the body. This will put a load on the fastener and encourage the nut to release (no homo). Some penetrating oil on the threads would not hurt either.

Cut a line in the top of the bolt and hold it with a screwdriver, use a box wrench on the nut.

Or use a vise if it'll grip it.

Filed down a screw driver and pounded it under the nut, it is now off.
Nut was stripped and kept spinning but the strut bolt was not.
Had to re tap the strut bolt for new threads. All good now, strut bar is on.

                Thanks everyone!
