M3 stomp test?

Do all years of the M3 have the same stomp test procedure as all other late model e30s? If so, what condition would disallow it to work? When I try it the check engine light never comes on at all. Come to think about it, my check engine light never shows throughout a start up. Perhaps the bulb is burned out?

Car doesn't have provisions for a check engine light. Stomp test won't work.
Even if the symbol is in the cluster, there is no wiring or connections for it.
