This is a great write up. You should post this in the FAQ&DIY

It replaced OEM so it sounds the same to me. But is sure a lot clearer! Mine was pretty pitted and had a repaired chip that was finally starting to run.

List on the windshield is about $300 and insurance allowed $100 for non-OEM so I'm happy with a $200 for an OEM replacement.

    E30 OEM Windshield

Trying to get an OEM windshield for my 89 325is. The parts guy at BMW says 51 31 1 884 397 is still back ordered from March with no ETA. Then he said BMW doesn’t ship glass - WHAT? What have I been waiting for?? I sent BMW Customer Support a message, trying to get some corporate help. I’m hoping someone on this thread might be able to help me.

Supposedly, 51 31 1 466 363 was superseded by 51 31 1 884 397 and according to Sean at BMWPartsStore, it shows 400+ in Germany? Has anyone ordered and received one of these part numbers lately?

    Thanks in advance.

    Scott

The windshield alone MSRP is over $400 is what I was trying to say. Sorry for the confusion.

$500 on top of the cost for the windshield itself?
