Wing with fixed flap, what screws to use?

    Hey guys,

Do people screw down these fixed flaps into their stock wings? PO drilled a couple holes, wonder what screws you would suggest to fix it to the underside of the wing.

    Would you?
Would the stress be too much, with the screws, and cause damage to the wing?

    Thoughts?
    Check it out.

You can see below the PO already had it attached at some point so I'm not introducing anything new, although he only had a couple holes of the 8 total available.

The core of the wing is carboard.
So screwing anything into it will have limited strength in the long run, and will likely rip out with real air pressure while driving.

You could try epoxying in nutserts, but anything off the shelf to "Screw" in will likely have little to no longevity.

      HTH,
      Chris

Ok, yeah I figured the integrity would likely not be there.
Not sure why PO had it screwed in, good to know though.

        Thanks

Is that a stock wing your attaching a flap to?
I don't think anyone has done that. The actual evo wing is a different shape along the top.

o shit, yeah that's a stock wing. You don't screw a flap into stock wing. Those holes in wing are from the molding process.

                  For sure.

Makes sense- PO had it screwed in at one point and as I mention I've finally pulled it out and was looking into what was going on.

                  Thanks guys

There is/was a company who make Evo/DTM CF flaps that ultilize the stock wing.

What alpine posted looks pretty promising.
