Digging the race deck. Was debating getting some but I have two buildings that would need it so I am thinking epoxy.

Nice updates, think it will be done before the end of summer. Hope it does not become a garage queen and you don't get to enjoy it.

Ballpark cost for the VIN labels?
Did they do the swirl cuts in the emissions one?
What documentation did they need to start the process?

I've got a collection of stickers already, but there is a -tiny- typo on one of them, and I didn't get any of the body panel or door jamb VINs.
(Actually, it might be fun to use my typo sticker and just see how many people spot it)

$29 each for the small tags. Bigger ones were more. Vacuum Routing diagram was $80 and yes they did the swirl cuts just like the original has. Larger ones are generally more expensive. Worth it to preserve originality, and therefore the car's value though.

Nice thing is they have a satisfaction guarantee. I marked up their first batch using PowerPoint and text boxes to direct changes and they remade for free.

Thanks. I looked at epoxy too but was afraid of hot tire pickup on the DIY kits and a pro job was as much as the race deck. Plus if I move I can take race deck with me.

I wouldn't hold out for end of summer completion. Not planning to rebuild the engine until early 2017. Spreading out the expenses.

At that point prices will hit ludicrious speed and insurance well on on dry days and 25 mile limits. Hope that is not coming.

Not to get too far ahead on the build, but what are your plans for all the black metal and black plastic trim bits - re-use, refurbish, or replace?

Curious, because some of the shadowline trim around the door/window is NLA. Not sure what I plan to do yet. All the parts need to match...except for the rear window trim which is gloss finish.

Planning to repaint them, potentially myself. Also planning to refurbish the existing leather - potentially next month.

I'm hopefully picking up my 335 from Magnum this evening (had the front bumper resprayed) and will try to snap some pics of the Chariot.

Paid a visit to Magnum. The engine bay, trunk, and undercoating remain to be done. But man...the difference here is staggering. It literally looks new.

And the best part is - this hasn't even been polished yet!

I refinished some of the black trim on my e21 320is- door handles, mirrors, license plate lights, etc...

Scuffed down with 400/600, then coated with Smart Grey Etching Primer and Trim Black. Results were good and seem to be holding up after a couple of years outside (no garage time for the 320).

I used to use SEM products, which I like. My supply place has been switching over to Smart products. Supposedly easier to deal with the California air requirements.

The only trim that concerns me is the drip rail. It has to be durable yet flexible to withstand the crimping/installation.
