    e30 M3 service manual

I know this subject has been broached before but I have a slight variation on the question. I just bought an E30 M3. I have torn a couple of standard E30s apart and am somewhat familiar with the chassis. Aside from the engine, and the track width is working on this car any different than a standard e30? I'm wondering if I can get by with the Bentley manual for most of the chassis work and I would just leave everything that would involve opening the engine up to a professional.

You should be fine with everything apart from the motor. Its all very similar suspension and electrically, as with all E30's quite easy to work on once you are informed.

The engine is joy to work on too but sure if you want to leave that to a specialist then its probably a good idea.

I have the Group A factory workshop manual for the M3, it has some awesome stuff in there, I plan to build my engine to the specs in that for a roughly 300hp motor on 12:1 comp. I have just helped a friend build one to those specs and we should have it on the dyno soon. The only difference being it has shcrick cams as opposed to Motorsport cams as they were unavailable at the time. Will prob loose out a little due to that.

Sorry for going slightly off topic, I do get a bit excited about these things haha

S14s seem daunting at first, but they are easy to work on and, if cared for, are solid engines.
      Current:
      1989 325i
      1988 M3
      1987 325ic
      Past:
      2001 330ci
      2001 M3

Thanks for both the responses guys. From what I hear they are great to work on based on the space in the engine bay. I guess I just have to get over the fear that accompanies it haha. Maybe that will come with time but for now I'll leave cracking her open to the professionals.

Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty if you know what you are doing. The E30 M3 owner's manual is the same as the normal E30 manual, there was a supplemental manual with m3 specific info. There was a guy on ebay selling oem copies a while ago for $20.
