S14B23 Slow to build oil pressure.

Usually takes 3-5 seconds for the oil pressure light to turn off and pressure gauge to shoot up. Worse the longer the engine sits and colder the oil is. If I shut off the engine and start 5 minutes later oil pressure hits almost immediately. Its like it all drains back to the sump after some time. While running oil pressure is fine. ~24psi at idle.

Just replaced the inner and outer rotor on the pump and oil/filter change with little difference. Was running 50-20w and 40-15w. No change. Always STP S3816 oil filters.

Read that the oil filters can play as difference?

    Any advice welcome. thanks.

STP's probably don't have anti-drainback valves that other filters like Mahle have. Are you running a remote oil filter kit?

Changed out the STP for a Mahle. Problem solved.
