    S14 Thermostat Failure

    Hi all,

Has anyone come across this kind of failure before ?... This is the second time it's happened to me.

    Thoughts & observations welcome.

    Cheers,

    Dave.

Every one I've had leaks a little at the rolled seam. New and used. It's one expensive joke if you ask me

yes, I have had an original thermostat fail and dislodge. It didn't affect anything except letting coolant bypass the thermostat.

Alternatives to the OE S14 Thermostat.

You're certainly not wrong there !

The thermostat I just bought cost me £118 (about $170). It's new, but old stock (dated 2004).

Anyway, I stumbled across this - I know it's not a S14, and the hose diameter is a little off, but all we're talking about here is a 'y' branch with a thermostat in the middle, and a couple of metric threaded ports for a double temp switch (cooling fan), and a thermal cut-out (air con). A cheaper alternative must be possible.

          Suggestions anyone ?

          Cheers,

          Dave.
