    E30 M3 5 lug post install issues...

When the wheels are off I can spin the rotor by hand. It's a little tight, but that's because everything is brand new (rebuilt calipers, new zimmerman rotors, new jurid pads).

When the wheel is on, and the lug bolts are tightened, the wheels WILL NOT TURN.

Has anyone ever had this issue? Car is not moving under it's own power yet, but motor and clutch are new and I'll probably burn my clutch just trying to reverse out of the driveway!! Ok, maybe an exaggeration - but it really does feel like someone just fully engaged the ebrake but for the front brakes. They absolutely will not budge with lugs tightened down. If loose, can turn wheel/rotor assembly by hand.

e30 m and non-m lug bolts are same length right?

Your anti rattle clips are rubbing on your wheels probably. What wheels are you running? Most et20 wheels require a 5-7mm spacer in the front to clear the clip. You can just remove them, but its a little noisy then.

The problem is not necessarely related to offset, but also to wheel design. Per exemple the BMW/BBS Style 5 do not fit the e30 M3 struts unless the clip is removed. That is because the Style 5 wheels were designed for 5 series, which had the rotors offset inward. What wheels are you running? Could it be that the tire rubs on the strut? if so, you DO have a problem with offset... Put spacers.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

It is either the wheel design, or you have longer that stock lug bolts (designed for use with a spacer) and they are going in past the hub into the abs ring etc.

What wheels are you running? On my 16" e38 and e60 wheels, I have to throw in a 3 or 5mm spacer to clear the clip.

I was going to say the same thing about the wheels hitting the caliper anti-rattle clip. When I was test fitting my Style 5's, when I would tighten down the lug nuts the wheel would be hard to turn because they would hit the clips.

To answer your question, M and non M OEM bolts are the same.

Ahhh thank you everybody. I thought I was going ef'n crazy.

They are stock non-m bolts, but I am running e38 weaves no spacers. I think I have some h&r spacers I never sold... but only two and 8mm, iirc.

the rears rotated but i didnt put those clips on yet, need spacers there too w.clips installed?

A friend of mine is running the E38 weaves. IIRC he is running small (5mm or less) spacers in the front with no spacers in the back.

His problem wasnt primarily the rattle clips though, his huge tires were rubbing the strut housings.

Do you have brand new pads on there? If so, you will probably need a 5-8mm spacer, or just remove the anti rattle clips. Its not horrific with them off. You shouldn't need any spacer at all in the rear, they should clear just fine.

You can take alittle of the meat off the anti rattle clip with a grinder. Thats what I did and I have no problems at all.

Stud it, run the spacer in the front. No spacer needed in the rear, except for looks of course. :)

The breaks make a lot of noise while breaking and rattle around. Thats about it.

Mine dont make any more noise. Put a little bit of the red disc quiet goo on the back of the pads, ans silence.

I will do this, or not use them at all until the pads wear more.
