Hmmm....way back my dad put E36 M front brakes on his '95 318ti knuckles. He drew sketches/measurements of the modifications needed. Let me see if I can dig that up and scan it. The info might not apply directly to you Art but may be useful for the 5-lug crowd in general.

You didn't seem to know anything in any other threads, how do you possibly know this?

Do you think it would be possibly to machine spacer for caliper carrier? Or is it offset in the other direction and would need material taken off (which I won't do). Thanks for participation.

I'm not doubting what you say...but why exactly is an adapter bracket not going to work when trying to fit M-brakes to non-M knuckle??

Sorry Lee....I f'd up, I meant NON-M brakes to an M-Knuckle. I want the caster from the M-Knuckle, but want the non-M brakes so I can still run my 15's during the winter. If this could be easily achieved, I would buy 2 new knuckles right now.

Lee, I live in the Fatherland, home of the almighty(and rare) M3, they are way more expensive than that over here.

Maybe there but not so much here as there are plenty of E36 M variants being parted out.

The e36 M3's mounting points are 6.9mm more inward.
The e36 M3's mounting point's radius is 2mm smaller.

Thanks Lee. So the caliper body would be straddling the rotor 2mm closer, and the E36 M3's mounting "ears" are 6.9mm deeper. But otherwise the bolt pattern is the same.

Bolt patterns are the same between ///M3 and regular e36.

I want smaller brakes to but 15s on for winters, BBK defeats that purpose, but your heart is in the right place.



Sadly realizing, that by the time I do any of this, winter will be over.
