drill hubs and rotors for 5x120

I was just speaking to a VW buddy of mine and he says that some guys in their world take the 4x100 hubs and rotors and drill them to 5 lug.

Is this possible for 4x100 to 5x120?

Here is a picture I found over on StanceWorks.com

    Has anyone tried this?

    Thanks for looking...

I think I read somewhere that there may not be enough material on the hub diameter for this but you got my curiosity. Sounds too good to be true. Please investigate further......

The hub above is from an e30 so it looks like there is material there.

sounds like a great idea. I think i read someone on this forum mention that they did this but only to the rear. I think they were in Europe can't remember who.

looks like at least one hole was welded up there. Probably 5x120 given how much it moved.

But people won't get to ask $1500+ for their m3 swap parts anymore :( How sad lol

                exactly
5x100 is on the same "field" as 4x100. That looks to be 5x120.

I wonder if it would be best to weld in the 4x100 spots for more strength. If this is true it would be awesome. Only problem now are brakes.

The brakes would be the same or you can use rx7 bbk.

If someone has the hubs to measure and see if this is possible all around.

The whole that looks welded is also for the 5 lug not 4 lug part of the hub.

Except any time you buy new rotors you would need to drill them as well.

Correct but it's not like we are buying rotors every week or every year for that matter.

IIRC there is not enough material on the front hubs to go 5x120

^very well could be the case. Anyone have pics of the front hubs?

Not enough material to go 5 x 120, for the hub and the rotor.
