    Do i need a 5-lug

I am going to be doing a S52 or a S54 stap in my e30 not 100% on what one yet. Anyway I am wanting to know do you need a 5-lug swap for better breaking with this car if its mail purpose is daily driving? I dont think i would cause there is no real weight in crease. I would be putting on id like either 16s or 17s depending on what strikes my fancy and i have no problem getting a BBK for my car if needed but if i do not need a 5-lug then i can at least put it off till later.

Dont need 5 lug, but i might go with a BBK just for the added stopping power. You could also go with a more aggressive pad on the stock brakes but your going to get noise/dust.

Rebuild your stock calipers and get some good pads and rotors. Also with the different booster setups, a 25mm master cyl isnt a bad idea.

Brakes are the one area that is often overlooked and overbuilt instead of just rebuilt and maintained (which is often more than enough)

Brakes don't have to do with the power per say. More the weight of your car and the style of driving you are doing.

On the street, you don't need a BBK, or to move over to a 5-lug setup. You don't even require a BBK for track days, just race pads and a fresh bleed.

5 lugs are a waste of money. I'd rather use that to get a nice lightweight BBK for the 4-lug hubs. Pretty much all OEM brakes are just as heavy and weak as any other - and as said, you don't need it on the street, and probably not even on the track if you aren't super experienced.

I think the main reason for 5-lug is the wheel selection grows quite a bit.

do it. better wheel option and it's always better to be safe than sorry.

drive an M3 and step on the brakes, then tell me why BMW didn't make all e30s 5lug and larger brakes, idk. after owning an M3 and seeing how well it stops, 5-lug is well worth it. esp with an S54's weight.

The stock M3 brakes aren't exactly groundbreaking, and being 5 lug makes no difference. They are still heavy, cast iron single piston brakes. The rotor is a little bit larger - but not by a huge amount.

if you can lock up your tires, bigger brakes aren't going to help you stop any faster, and if you aren't tracking the car, the extra heat capacity of a bigger rotor isn't going to do you any good either.

yes, it's not lightyears better, but it is very noticeable and i bet the OP will be using the e36M brakes which are far superior to the stock e30 brakes.
