the ix supposedly has a shorter stopping distance than the 325i, even though it's heavier. not sure what other differences there are in the ix braking system though (I know the abs system is not the same).

it probably costs a lot more than the 325i part. so I guess it depends if you think a decrease of 10ft from 70mph is worth it or not.

well it's not something I just made up, but from car magazines that tested the 325is/325ix. it's not a huge difference though.

ix's came with 205 wide tires and is's came with 195's i know that has to do with some of the stopping distance, but ix's have special abs systems for braking in snow and rain. Other than that i have no idea, i have a full ix brake system in my parts car. I don't have time to remove it anytime soon though

The 325ix master cylinder wont fit because the booster is a WHOLE DIFFERENT design. The 325i has a narrower dual chamber booster so its actually longer. The master cylinder is then recessed into the booster instead of just bolting on. I know because I have a 325ix booster. The upgrade was an M5 25mm MC.

The upgrade for a standard E30 booster is any 25 MC from the early 7s and mid 5s. Run a search on 25mm MC and you will find a recent thread with pics and such. It also talks about the changes in brake lines that *might* or *might not* be necessary.

I dont know if my stopping distances are any shorter with the 25mm booster but if you want a nice firm and fast acting pedal then that is the way to go. MUCH bigger difference than just going to stainless lines.

The MCs were going for $160+shipping from online parts places when I got mine.
              Im now E30less.
