    brake lining light

this thing is driving me nuts...when i first
bought the car, it would come on sporadically...
and, depending on how cold the temperature
was, i could get it to go off by applying finger
pressure to the trim piece directly beneath it...
now that it had warmed up, it's on all the time
and nothing i do short of bulb removal will make
it go away...everything else on the cluster works
fine and i would really like to retain the original
    unit if possible...

is this a cluster issue or an si board issue?

yeah. you're problem is a bit more serious,
but kinda similar to mine...the more i started
thinking about my brake lining light, the more
annoyed with it i suddenly became...

if your pads are fine then replace the sensors on the 2 pads (Left side of the car) (Rear may be in the right, I forget)

they are like 5 bucks each, if it really gets to you then just remove the lightbulb

it's not the pads and sensors--they were just replaced...
and the bulb was on before...

the car is in almost perfect condition and i really don't
have an interest in a 'quick fix' like pulling the bulb...i
prefer to have all the systems on the car to function as
          originally intended...

okay, then why don't you check all the harnesses that go to the sensors, make sure they work, make sure all connectors are tight and not corroded.

That light runs on its own little system, and does not talk to the SI Board at all
