First off, we know that 6-cyl. Z3 cars had a wider track in the back so this discussion should only apply to 4-cyl. M44 Z3 cars and 318ti vs the E30.
Also, we know that early M10 E30 cars as well as 325e (up to 09/85) cars had the smaller bearings like the E36 318ti and Z3. Late E30 cars had a larger wheel bearing.
My question relates mostly to ABS sensor differences. It seems pretty straightforward to shim the sensors when using 318ti/Z3 arms on an E30 (retaining the E30 ABS sensors), but what about the opposite. I would like to use E30 arms (with the larger bearings) on my 318ti. I do not think the sensors will be deep enough into the bores to catch a pulse from the trigger wheel. BTW: I'll be using the stock 318ti axles and trigger wheels on the 318ti.
Thanks in advance for the help - I suppose this is really a 318ti/Z3 question, but thought the information would be useful here for sure.
