Who has done it? Last time, I had a shop do it but now have a vise that I think might be able to do the trick. Any lessons learned?

Use the freeze/heat approach. But have a small sledge handy.
The first time I did this job we used a large vise, but it wasn't strong enough. We had to tighten the vise while hitting the face with a sledge.
Ugly, but it worked.
My friend now has a 20 ton press. With that and a pipe clamp to reinstall on the car, a CAB replacement is fast and easy.

^^^^you guys use soap to lube up the cab and stuck it in the lollipop? Or did you lube up the cab then stuck it on the control arm? I dont think soap is going to be sufficient in lubing metal on metal, unless you're talking about the latter. I used my friends dads hydraulic press to press the actually cab into the lollipop. I just stacked on the new cab ontop of the worn out one and press the new one in while the old one came out.Last edited by tonytony; 09-15-2009, 01:54 AM.

Yep, I used a 5" bench vise to press mine into the lollipops. If you put it in the freezer it'll ease the assembly process.
To actually lube it up and press it onto the control arm, I use turpentine, because it actually dries out.
