    polyurethane lube

so we all know that polyurethane needs to be lubed or it gets really squeaky.
my question is, should i use the lube they sent me or should i spring for some higher quality lube? i heard that some people use marine grade lubrication on there bushings. as my car is a DD it sees a whole winters worth of rain and im sure that marine grease will hold up better. anyone try this or think its a bad idea?

P.S. IE sub frame, trailing arm, sway mounts all street grade poly.

i used whatever came with the bushings which is probably copper grease. Had them in for a year and no squeek that i can detect.

I've had good success using synthetic brake grease. It seems a bit more water resistant that the grease furnished with urethane bushings and lasts longer. But nothing I've tried lasts much more than a year.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I made the mistake of using the grease that came with the bushings. Shit was quiet for like 3 weeks, maybe. Now I gotta pull my damn trailing arms out AGAIN because I was too lazy to go get the right shit...fuck that noise, man!

            Marine grease FTMFW.

Gonna do zerk fittings in those TAs when I go slotted.

I also used anti-seize on my bushings. No squeeks after a year of use.

i had greased my poly bushings with high quality synthetic lithium grease. then had issues installing, realised i did something wrong, couple of days later, pulled them out. i found that there was almost no grease on the close mating surfaces. what was left felt dry.

conclusion: unless there is some provision for grease to stay and flow (channels, slots, cross-hatch, etc), most, if not all gets pushed out with installation since the grease is to thick. oil would fit but leak away quick. thats why i used antiseize, it's thinner yet holds to surfaces very well. i think it will last longer.

I used whatever came with my bushings from IE.. in 2003. Never heard a squeak.

now, the heim joints on my first set of adjustable swaybar links that went bad.. those squeaked like crazy!

Yeah, back in the GM days I always did zerk fittings for control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, all of that.

As far as grease...NFC. I just got whatever marine grade grease they had at the boat shop.

a nipple that you can pump grease into.
